The Hollywood Reporter reports that Francis Lawrence (The director behind I Am Legend and Water for Elephants) will be offered to direct Catching Fire, the sequel to the hugely successful Hunger Games film.
Sources say that Lawrence will receive an official offer this afternoon. If he accepts and a deal can be worked out, he will replace Gary Ross, who directed the first installment of the hugely successful franchise.
This news is breaking just hours after Lionsgate narrowed it down to two directors for the sequel. Which included Francis Lawrence (obviously) and Bennett Miller (the director of Moneyball).
What do you think of Lawrence? Will he do well replacing Gary Ross? Leave a comment below.
