Catching Fire should be split into two movies

Kyle Stewart’s Opinion on why Catching Fire should get two movies instead of one.

[SPOILERS AHEAD] Lionsgate has said that the incredibly successful (thus far) Hunger Games Franchise will have not three, but four movies. This means that one book will get two movies, as there are three books in the trilogy.

Many fans believe that Lionsgate will follow in the steps of Harry Potter and Twilight, a and split the final film.

I hope that they don’t split Mockingjay in half.

This is why… Firstly, where in the world are you going to end Mockingjay Part 1? You could maybe get away with ending as District 13 is being bombed, and you would get a cliffhanger (Does Prim make it back?).

Meanwhile for Catching Fire, it already is practically split in half… Pre-Hunger Games and Hunger Games. Both halves would make great movies. Both have a fair amount of Action as well, which is vital for each Hunger Games film to be successful.

Gary Ross, the director of The Hunger Games, is currently in negotiations to continue as director for Catching Fire. I think that it would be interesting to have the same director, with the same vision, direct each movie in the trilogy, unlike what happened with Twilight and Harry Potter.

Catching Fire is my favorite book in The Hunger Games series, and I have a ‘high bar’ set for Lionsgate to make a fantastic film, as they did with The Hunger Games. I think that Catching Fire should have two movies, not Mockingjay.

Catching Fire is starting filming in September 2012, as we previously reported. And, Lionsgate already has a release date set for the movie, November 22nd, 2013.

With all that time… they had better do it right.
