Austin MacPherson reports for Magnae Famae in Review: The Canadian Psycho
After he became one of the world’s most wanted murderer in a matter of about just less of a week, Luka Rocco Magnotta was captured inside an Internet Cafe in a suburb in Berlin,Germany. Magnotta will not fight extradition back to Canada from Germany later this month. Magnotta was wanted by INTERPOL and police across Canada after murdering a Chinese-Canadian student in Montreal with an ice pick and dismembering his hands, feet and head and also recording it on video. The video, was pulled down from dozens of internet sites and was under review by the RCMP and INTERPOL. The original site that hosted the video, is currently under investigation by the RCMP. One hand and foot were mailed to the Canadian Conservative Party Headquarters in Ottawa,Canada. The other hand and foot were most likely sent to two schools in Vancouver and the torso was found in a dumpster outside his Montreal apartment. The Elementary and High schools of which the hand and foot were sent to have an unknown relation to the killing. Both schools are under review and investigation by the RCMP as of the current date. Both hands, feet and torso are currently in police possession. The head of the victim is still missing. The victim, Lin Jun, was a student from China studying in Montreal, who had a relationship with Mr. Magnotta at the time of the murder.
Magnotta is currently being held at a Berlin Central Prison until the Canadian Government sends various documents to the German Government that will allow his return to Canada for trial and sentencing. At first after the murder (from what police determine) Magnotta mailed the various body parts to their locations and stayed in Montreal for an uncertain amount of time. Afterwards, he took a flight to Paris, France where he stayed for a few days, before taking a bus to Berlin,Germany where he was captured. Magnotta evaded police during travel under a false alias as “Tramell”. It is currently uncertain as to the location of where Magnotta was heading, but after his return to Canada he may tell police and the Canadian Court this kind of information. Further information will be released later this month on the Extradition Process and charges as Magnotta comes back to face justice in Canada in the coming weeks.
